No Fail Tissue Paper Flowers

Monday, January 28, 2013

As some of you may already know, I'm busy this week finishing up my baby shower plans for Saturday. I started making the decorations and I just couldn't resist sharing this quick and easy way to make perfect tissue paper flowers every time.

All you need are some paper brads, tissue paper in the colors that you like, and scissors. That's easy enough right?

I used these mini pastel circle brads from the scrapbook section of Micheals.

And these are my colors of tissue paper.

The first step is to fold your sheets of tissue paper into smaller squares, as I have. To do this fold the each sheet in half long-wise twice. Then fold that in half twice again and you have a square.

Next, take a brad and insert it through the middle of the square making sure to pierce through each layer or paper. If your brad isn't strong enough to go through the paper, help it out by poking a pin through first.

Then open the arms of the brad to hold all the paper together. I can't believe how great these work!

Now trim the edges of the square into any pattern you like. Big petals, small petals, no petals... whatever you think.

Last, spin the separate layers around to spread them apart and fill in the flower. I like to trim the first piece down a little so that it lays right but you might not have to depending on the pattern you choose.

And there you have it...

They're a no fail quick and easy decoration for parties and gifts.

If you want to kick them up a notch, repeat the steps above using three or four different colors of paper for multi-color flowers.

Thanks for reading!
