I've totally been feeling the Valentine's Day vibe with all the fantastic crafts, decorations, and gifts I've been seeing everywhere, especially the stores.
I grabbed this really cool heart shaped plastic ice cube tray for only a dollar the other day. The first thing I thought when I seen it was that it'd make a really great mold for all things Valentine's Day.
Of course I immediately went to one of my favorite candies in the world.. peanut butter cups.
The store I was at had sold out of all the milk chocolate chips so I grabbed a bag of kisses instead.
I did a quick melt in the microwave, stirring the chocolate every 20 seconds or so until it was completely smooth.
I did this in a pour-able measuring cup to make it easier to pour into the individual hearts.
After filing each heart up about half way I let it cool.
I added about a teaspoon of peanut butter next. I also heated the peanut butter up slightly to make it spread better.
Last, I melted some more chocolate and filled the molds up the rest of the way and let them sit in the refrigerator until cooled and hardened.
I'm thrilled with how they came out! They easily pop right out of the plastic mold without any trouble.
And they are oh so delicious! I actually like them a lot ore than the Reese's cups. The peanut butter has a much better texture.
Happy Valentine's!

ReplyDeleteThese look divine! I love the silicone molds. I have a similar pan that is all metal, and it is almost impossible to get the food out of it! I've given up using it. Glad to see that yours works so well! I’m so glad you linked this up at One Creative Weekend! I love it! Hope your weekend is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteHow neat! I have a silicone heart mold - from IKEA - that's supposed to be for ice... I'm thinking this would taste much better though! =) Have a great weekend!!
