Lotion Bottle to Dish Soap Pump

Thursday, November 22, 2012

Since I have a new house to decorate I have lots of little projects to post about. This is one of my favorite things I've done at the new house so far.

I have this cute little window above my sink in the kitchen. I love that the window ledge serves as a perfect shelf to keep the dish soap and scrubbies on. I don’t however love the look of the dish soap bottle.

I've had this glass bottle full of cucumber melon lotion for a couple years now. I have very sensitive skin though, so I can’t use it, but I kept it because the bottle is beautiful.

Light Bulb!! I emptied out the lotion. It’s a shame I can’t use it because it smells amazing!

Then, I filled it up with the dish soap and it’s a lot prettier than the plastic bottle. It also helps to use less soap because it’s a pump.

I think next time I’ll use a different color dish soap.

What do you think? Better?

  1. Definitely better. I've had my dish soap in a decorative bottle for years and still get comments on it.

  2. Oh much better, I have my generic brand dish liquid out, I should really think about doing something like this. The green soap looks okay, even if you would prefer a different color

  4. That is a very pretty way to dispense the suds! Did you dilute the soap before filling. I have a decorative oil bottle with a dispenser top that is too small to let enough soap thru. DH is always complaining that he cannot get soap out!

(http://www.mybotto.com/blog/17-mybotto-the-perfect-gift-for-beauty-lovers-this-holiday-season) . It's all about products that are eco-friendly, and I know you didn't use the lotion..but this product helps you get every last ounce out of lotions, shampoos, food sauces, etc.

Great blog post again...I'm definitely going to reuse my pretty bottles!

  10. Hi!
    What a sweet idea!
I have a section on my site about dish soap bottles. I use pumps from Costco products since they have a phenomenal delivery and you are correct in saying one can use less soap.
Try using 2 color soaps and pour slowly. Eventually they will blend but it will take time.
The Costco pumps, like their shampoo, are so long you could use a tall Coke bottle. I often gift dish soap bottles :)
Please come visit me at www.frugalgreentips.com and please let me know if you like what you see.
I will soon merge this site with another called www.flashknow.com
    THANK YOU
