Boys Potty Seat Redo

Friday, August 24, 2012

It may seem a little early for me to start potty training my 21 month old but I've been picking up on some ques he's been displaying and I'm going to see how it goes.

The last couple of times I've changed my little guy's diaper he took off running to a specific corner in the dining room and peed on the floor. I've also noticed that when he's in the bathtub, he'll stand up to pee so he can see it.

I think this shows that he has some control over his bladder and that he's realizing that he has to go to the bathroom before he actually does. I figure any potty training encouragement can't hurt right?

When we had our son, an amazing coworker of my guy's gave us a ton of really great stuff. She gave us our crib, lots of big toys, and tons of really nice clothes and shoes. We are so thankful for all she gave to use.. Thanks Lindsey, you're an angle!

One of the cutest things ever was this little wooden potty seat, complete with a TP holder and a magazine rack!

It was in the garage for almost two years so it needed some cleaning up first. Then I just picked some colors and gave it a new paint job. My sister suggested blue and green so that's what I went with.

I painted on the words using the tracing method. I printed the words in a fun font and then measured and taped the paper onto the chair. Then I traced over the letters which leaves a small indent in the wood to paint over.

Add some TP and books and the seat is complete.

Now wish me luck in getting my little guy to use it...

  1. I need to start potty training too. I tried once and we were both butting heads. It's time again. Good luck! And at least you're starting with a cute potty seat!

  8. You might think it's too early to start potty training but better early than late, right? It's usually the ones that start too late that have trouble (so I've heard...I'm apparently no expert beings I only have a 1 year old little girl) hahaha. cute potty for your little boy - I'll take all the notes I can get! Excited to be your newest follower from the blog hop!
