Sterno Can Fire Pots

Friday, May 11, 2012

Here they are.. My Sterno Can Fire Pots for my Mother's Day gift baskets!! I LOVE them! I used regular terra cotta pots that I painted with acrylic paint and then added on scrapbook paper flowers.

That's right, I cut those flowers out of a piece of scrapbook paper and Mod Podged them on. After I did that I gave the pots a nice thick coating of Mod Podge to seal it all up. It also gives the paint a nice coat to protect the paint from bumps here and there.

To make sure the Sterno Can is level fill the pot up about half way and put the can in, then add rocks around it. Make sure and take the lid off once first because the can will have to be taken out to be opened if not.

Then just add rocks on the top to cover the can and surround the cap. The heat from the Sterno can won't cause the pot to get too hot because of the rocks in it.

Want a price rundown? My pleasure..

2 Terra Cotta Pots @ $1.37 = $2.74, 2 Sterno Cans @ $1.00 = $2.00, 1 Piece Scrapbook Paper = $0.59, Paint -- On Hand, Mod Podge -- On Hand, Rocks -- FREE -- Altogether that's $5.33 for two super cool personalized gifts.

I bet this would make a great gift for the grandparents from the grand kids too. The little ones would love to decorate the pots.
