15 Minute Ties to Slip-ons

Monday, May 14, 2012

Hello everyone! Welcome to another shoe refashion project of mine :)

I've had these checkered shoes for a couple years now and I still love them as much as I did when I first got them.

That being said however, every single time I put them on I think "these would be so much easier if they were slip-ons." The medal eyelets are always tarnishing the white laces so I constantly have to keep them washed so they don't look really dirty.

So I turned them into slip-ons in only 15 minutes and it's all due thanks to Katy at Sweet Verbena and her Yellow Shoe Makeover. Follow the link to go check it out. It's an amazing thrifty project from plain white $5 Walmart or Target shoes.

All I did was simply hand sew a small piece of elastic under the tongue of the shoe.

I pinned the elastic in where i wanted it and used the original stitching as a guide. I did four stitches on each side and then tied the thread off inside the shoe.

Sorry I don't have a picture for this step... I missed that one.

And it's really as simple as that.

Now they are easy peasy slip-ons with no white laces to wash every other week :)
